Digital Diverter Installation Guide
Step By Step Instructions ON How To Switch Your Alarm Monitoring By Simply Plugging In The DD2 DIGITAL DIVERTER Between Your Alarm Panel & The Telephone Line Jack.
WARNING: If you have DSL high speed internet on your phoneline, do not connect the DD2 without first placing a DSL filter in front of the DD2 or damage to the unit may occur.
Step (1) Call the 24 hour new account set-up line at 1-800-499-5904 and Listen to the instructions on how to place your account on test. A LIVE OPERATOR will require some information such as your TEMPORARY account number which is the last 7 digits of your premises phone number with a letter "T" in front of it. (Example: If your phone number is 206-362-1300, then your TEMPORARY account number would be "T3621300")
Step (2) Locate your main alarm panel box where the alarm system wiring goes into, usually in a closet, basement or attic. The main box is rather large (12 inches by 12 inches )and is made of metal or plastic. It usually has a key lock on the front. Do not confuse it with your on/off keypad.
Step (3) Locate the phone Jack interface. Usually tan, beige or gray and has either an 8 pin or 4 pin modular cord plugged into it. Any system installed LEGALLY as per the F.C.C will have one. This jack connects the Alarm Panel to the phone line and is located outside the panel box.
(Note:) If you cannot locate the phone jack on the outside of the panel box, it might be inside the actual panel box. To enter a locked box, simply slip a standard flat blade screwdriver next to the lock, between the outer lip and the side of the panel box with the screwdriver blade is pointed towards you. Slowly pull the screwdriver handle towards you and then pry it out to the side and the panel box lock will simply 'pop' open. - If you still cannot locate the phone jack, you will need to contact our technical support at 1-800-365-2527 EXT #118 During REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS. They can assist you in determining if a phone jack was never installed, therefore requiring a separate DD0 'tap-in jack' to be shipped to you in order to complete the installation or you may choose the option to have your alarm panel downloaded instead.
Step (4) Unplug the modular alarm cord coming from alarm panel box presently plugged into the phone jack receptacle and re-plug it into the open jack on the DD2 marked "ALARM LINE".
Step (5) Depending on the head size of the modular alarm cord you just unplugged, (8 pin or 4 pin) Plug either the 8 pin BLACK or 4 pin SILVER DD2 cord back into the now empty, phone jack receptacle. Be sure to use the matching 8 or 4 pin cord.
Step (6) TEST YOUR PHONE LINE by picking up any existing telephone in the premises and hearing regular dial tone.
(Note a) If you do not receive a regular dial tone, check to see if any of your wiring was not securely plugged in, the repeat step 6. - If you still do not hear a dial tone, with either a different phone line or a cell phone contact our contact our technical support at 1-800-365-2527 EXT #118 During REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS. If it is presently after hours, simply return your alarm panel wiring back to its original positions and then contact our technical support during our business hours of 8:00 am to 3:pm (P.S.T.) Monday through Friday.
Step (7) Once you have completed step 6, you must test your alarm system into the monitoring center. Simply turn your alarm ON by ARMING the system with all your protection points closed. Wait for any possible exit times to elapse and then open one of the instant zones such as a window or non delay entry door. If you do open a delay zone, you will have to wait for the entry time to expire and confirm that you hear the SIREN sound. Wait for a minimum of 3 minutes, then disarm your system. (Note: Future alarms will transmit in 5 to 15 seconds, however the first time additional time is required for system registration.)
Step (8) Wait for 5 minutes and then repeat step 6 a second time for 3 minuites again. - During your testing, critical data is being passed between your alarm panel and our monitoring center. Your caller I.D. and the account number that your previous alarm center loaded into your alarm panel box is being registered in our system.
Step (9) Your system conversion is now completed. You do not need to contact the monitoring center as they will contact you upon completion of your account set-up. This may take several hours and will occur during the same or possible the next business day depending on what time you tested your system.
